Special Events and Permitting

To ensure the safety of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs students, personnel and visitors the Department of Public Safety requires that certain types of activities be reviewed and approved.

Types of Events requiring pre-approval and/or permitting (this is not an exclusive list):

• Large gatherings over 1000 attendees
• Fire & Open Flame
• VIPs / Significant Speakers
• Large outdoor events requiring  road closures
• Any event involving the use of hazardous materials
• Events with alcohol
• Events with face weapon props
• Extra Duty Requests (Police)
• Events with Food Trucks
• Use of Haze
• Hot Work
• Any event deemed a special security risk
